| The band initially formed in early 2004 in Calgary, Alberta and musically things came together very quickly. Rather than rushing out and playing shows immediately we chose to hold off and make sure we were as happy as we could be with the performance of the songs as well as have more to offer to people on top of well rehearsed, well crafted songs. Once we had a CD recorded, an extensive line of merchandise, and as much of a stage and light show as we could muster since most clubs seemed to be lacking in that area - we decided it was time to take it to the people. And things went pretty much according to plan, even better then expected actually. The shows got better and better, great reviews locally and abroad and a fan base that kept growing stronger. We captured the attention of Cyclone records shortly after our first couple months of playing live and they proved to be a very helpful ally and spread the news far and wide that Wormbox was a band to watch out for. Cyclone records chose to do a digital re-release of the Self titled "Wormbox" demo which was named one of the top ten Canadian metal releases of 2005 by metal net radio's Dr. Steel. The CD or individual tracks are available for purchase through itunes, napster and other fine online music retailers. Not bad for a CD that was only meant to land in the hands of promotors in order to start booking some shows. As a bonus the re-issue also included a previously unreleased track "Whiplash" which the band wrote and recorded at the request of the organizers of the Whiplash Open Air Festival. The song was to be used for promotional media for the festival, though the festival never did see the light of day and neither did the song until Brad Trew and the fine folks at Cyclone decided otherwise. Another track which you'll find on this page "Hate Therapy" was recorded for a disc titled "The Greatest Underground Show On Earth" which was a compilation of metal bands hailing from the city of Calgary. The summer of 2006 brought us into some stressful times which I guess could have been expected from a bunch of guys who spent 3 to 4 nights each and every week for the last two years in a musical tug-o-war. So we took a TIME OUT and shook our heads for awhile. Now that that's out of our system - On With The Show! The writing is going better than ever, the energy in the rehearsal space is amazing - the brotherhood is back! Work has begun on recording the new full length CD which will be released through Cyclone Records late 2006 or early 2007. See you soon - The Worm! (more) |
