| Negotiating through the tedium of daily rituals and confronting the paradoxes of the common experience has been a humbling yet fertile creative forum for Swandive. This is the basis on which Swandive has defined their repertoire of music and song. Sometimes melancholy, sometimes uplifting, but always mesmerizing – the band has been characterized as “good storytellers”. “I felt melted into each song and couldn’t remember when it started and didn’t know when it would end…or are they just good storytellers? Lead singer Scott was a musical being to the core – the music came from deep within him and poured out with more emotion than the casual listener would realize.” – Mary Pike, San Diego Music Matters February 11, 2004 Swandive is the culmination of the musical talents of vocalist/guitarist Scott Spick, guitarist Tom Amador, keyboardist/guitarist Ryan Morgan, bassist Bill Cańedo, and drummer Lance LaFave. Since forming in late 2003, Swandive has developed an impassioned and energetic live performance that keeps audiences riveted and returning for more. Sustained by a fervent fan base, steady radio support and regular weekend shows – this talented ensemble has quickly emerged as a mainstay of the San Diego area music scene. Swandive has also remained busy by actively recording their musical and artistic progress. The band’s musical zeal and desire to connect with listeners has resulted in the production and publication of two recordings: Meaning of It All (2003) and Something To Melt the Silence (2004). The band was also included in the compilation recording On the Verge (2003) published and distributed by San Diego Music Matters. With a strong sense of purpose and an independent spirit Swandive is on course to elevating themselves into the national conversation. |
