| Sam was born in Weyburn, Sask. He spent his early years on the farm, and grew up in a country setting. Music is something that runs in the family, Sam’s father and uncle were well know musicians in south-eastern Saskatchewan with a band called “The Country Cousins” in the 70’s. Sam started to play the guitar when he was eleven. Learning partly from his father, as well as self taught, he played in few garage bands. At seventeen Sam joined the Canadian armed forces, and had a enjoyable ten year military career stationed in Edmonton, AB. With 3 overseas tours in the P.P.C.L.I , he was able to see a lot of different places, as well as do a service for his country. In late 2004, Sam decided it was time to dedicate more time to his first passion, music. So with some major life adjustment he moved his family to Calgary to pursue his dreams. Sam is interested in all kinds of music, but country music is his natural talent . Sam is a strong vocalist, a skilled guitar picker and a gifted song writer who has been recognized by the Calgary Folk Festival. More of a ‘Tell me how it is, and I’ll play it’ then a read music kind of guy. Sam has spent the last three years working /recording and playing in the Calgary music scene. |
