“Who is Simone White?

To appreciate Simone we need to look at the various sides to his artistic palate.

Simone has been the heartbeat behind the music of the Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy, Spearhead, Michael Franti, Mark Eitzel, Nadir, Afro Mystic and even funk legend George Clinton.

An impressive line up of talent though from my own experience I don’t think I can classify Simone as merely a drummer, rather he is a musician and an artist.

He is a naturally gifted player who has taken this raw talent and crafted it through many hours, days, weeks, months and years.

But what differentiates Simone from all the rest is his ears.

Not only does he listen to the song, he hears the song and plays it so that it sounds better than it did in your head.

While keeping such fine company Simone has also forged his own path creating his own stylised brand of Electronica.

In doing so he has garnered the praise of Fritz Hilpert of influential German maestro’s ‘Kraftwork.’

Fritz described Simone’s work as the “Electrified Good Groove”

High praise indeed from the inventor of the genre!

Simone relocated from San Francisco to Sydney in 2006 and has made a home within Sydney’s musical community with his versatile style.

He is currently tutoring some hip, up and coming muso’s, is producing local artists (including an album for Isis Ashton) and is completing his own album ‘Simulation’ due for spring release.

So who is Simone White?

I will leave the final word to singer/songwriter, producer, activist Nadir:

“A lot of musicians have bad attitudes and their egos fill the room more than their music does. Simone is one of those cats who you want to hang out with after the gig or after the session or after practice. It makes the music he plays even more dynamic."”
