| Mrs. Esther Wagner-Yuan holds a bachelor of music degree in violin performance from Duquesne University. She has studied with Albert Hirtz and Louis Lev, long-time Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra members and Charles Stegeman, concertmaster of the Benedum orchestra. She, also, attended the Midwest Summer String Teaching Workshop in the summer of 2002, where she attended classes led by Robert Gillespie, co-author of Essential Elements 2000. For the past 7 or 8 years she has been teaching, playing, and studying jazz. One of her favorite things to do is to join the jam sessions at the Coyote Cafe in Bloomfield, PA. She also played with the band, Biscuits and Gravy at such locations as the Club Cafe, Dowe's on 9th, and the Coyote Cafe. To learn more about jazz, she studied with Rodney McCoy, jazz violinist. She has played with the Westmoreland Symphony, Plum Creek Chamber Orchestra, Altoona Symphony, McKeesport Symphony, Seitz String Quartet, Washington Symphonic Orchestra, Butler Symphony, Barksdale String Quartet, and various other musical groups. She currently directs the California University of PA String Ensemble! She is accepting students in the California University of Pennsylvania String Ensemble and for private instruction at her home in Jefferson Hills, PA. She is also available for weddings, parties, and receptions as a classical soloist, with her string quartet, or as a jazz soloist.
