| (more) Kristina Forester is a conservatory trained classical cellist gone renegade, equally comfortable with contemporary virtuosic repertoire as she is with free improvisation in late night mixed meter freak outs. Whether coaxing impeccable tone from her classical instrument or corralling her custom made five string electric cello through a maze of guitar pedals to create an ocean of ambient textures, Kristina’s creative impulse is moving, unpredictable, and precise. Since relocating to the bay area in 1996 Kristina has performed and recorded with numerous artists such as Fred Frith, Meredith Monk, Renata Bratt, Lee Ray, Tim Volpicella Larry Ochs, Wadada Leo Smith, Joan Jeanrenaud, Gina Leishman, Beth Custer, Gordon Stevens, Danny Cantrel, and Alan Parsons. Through divine discontent, Kristina moved from studying bowing to studying breath and launched a solo project as vocalist and composer in collaboration with Open Path Studios in 2005. Following her debut as a vocalist, Kristina teamed up with Listen Labs producer Noah Thorp to form the orchestral electronica project Rabbit’s Rum. She is currently delving into eastern internal practice through qigong and Indian classical singing and exploring how esoteric internal awareness relates to sound and health. Further projects melding her growing knowledge of internal practice, health, and electronics are rumored to be in the works. In addition to her own creative endeavors, Kristina is available for session recording and remote studio recording at Listen Labs studios. |
