Since the 2003 release of Emma Cook's debut album “Manifesto,” Emma has been getting noticed on the folk rock scene in Toronto. Born and raised in the city, Emma quickly left her classical training behind and dove into her own brand of songwriting and performing. Witty, vibrant and outspoken, Emma gives audiences a live show to remember. Unlike some recording artists, Emma out does herself when playing live performances. She has a way of pulling you into her art, whether you expected to go with her or not. Emma's mainly self-taught percussive guitar techniques make for a high caliber of accompaniment. Rarely do you find a young person with so much charisma and raw talent. Emma is not waiting around to become a star - it is only a matter of time.

The summer of 2003 saw the founding of Emmazing Records, Emma's own independent label that she used to release her debut album "Manifesto." Written and co-produced by Emma, the songs on this album range from intricate guitar and vocal tracks to edgy rock tunes with rich layers of harmonies reminiscent of Emmas classical training. The title track from the album, "Manifesto," has received radio play from various radio stations including Waterloo's CKMS-FM and GidaFolk Radio. “Manifesto” has recently been chosen to appear on the 2nd Buy Indie Music compilation CD.

In September 2004, Emma was chosen to showcase at Toronto's weeklong music festival Indie Week. Shortly after in December 2004, she came in 1st place at the Paragon Singer/Songwriter competition. Emma continues to perfect her live performance and has headlined numerous shows including"Girls with Guitars" at C'est What, The Winchester Pub and the "Manifesto" CD release at Toronto's renowned folk club Hugh's Room.

Emma often plays benefit shows in the city to raise money for causes she believes in. Emmazing Records recently held its very first Emmazing Women benefit concert in Toronto, for the Redwood Women's Shelter. Emma and the other female performers raised over $500 for the Shelter and caused a huge buzz around the city. Emma also played at the Rivoli in Toronto to raise money for the Cooking Fire Theatre Festival held in July 2004.

Emma's CD "Manifesto" has garnered fantastic reviews, one of which is available at 1340mag.com. Emma was featured artist in April's issue of the Female Musician Magazine @ www.femalemusician.com. Visit their site to read another great review. In April, the internet radio station Gida Folk did a two day special featuring Emma's music. Tune in to Gida Folk to hear Emma in rotation and read a touching review.
Due to the overwhelming success of the release of "Manifesto," Emma has begun plans for a second album and tour.
