Reading music is not an essential requirement however an average proficiency of a musical instrument such as guitar or piano is. Lyrics – includes thematic theory, meter and execution. Improvisation and the wonderful world of mistakes. Taking risks and the final product. *Music Production – includes “training your ear”, current multi genre mix techniques, historical mix techniques and trends, “how do I get that sound”, sequencing, editing, how to coax the best performance out of a player and vocalist, the final product *Digital Recording – includes how to drive and get the best out of Logic Studio Pro 8, digital recording software, plug-ins and hardware. *The Studio: Audio Engineering – includes “training your ear”, setting up your own home studio, equipment, understanding and operation of the mixing desk, signal processors – what they do and how to drive them, “how do I get that sound”, monitoring, mike techniques, history of analogue recording techniques, 21st century audio theory and practicals and the final product. Group class (max group size - 3 students) Duration: two hours. Private tuition (one on one) Duration: Choice of one or two hours. This is not a certified course, this is private tuition designed to set you on your way to a world of informed creativity and maybe profitability. Email me at brianmitra@iinet.net.au for other sample recordings. $1000 EP Deal Day 1 - Live Tracking - 6-8 Hours We will spend 6 Hours tracking the band live in an analogue studio with an isolation booth and a live room connected with line of sight through double glazed windows to isolate the instruments but still keep the integrity of the band’s live energy. You band may choose to track to professional grade 2 Inch Ampex Grand Master 456 24-Track Analogue Tape as these facilities are available for a small price of $100 extra to use the tape. Day 2 - Overdubs - 4 - 6 Hours The second day will be spent at a smaller Protools studio doing guitar and vocal overdubs. Day 3 - Mixdown - 4-8 Hours Once all the raw tracks have been laid down I will do a day-long mix on your tracks meticulously crafting your music to sound as good as it possibly can track by track in a mixdown studio. You may sit in the mixdown but it is not essential. Once all the tracks have been mixed down to a stereo mix I will print off the 1st mix for the band to listen to and review. Day 4 - Recall - 1-2 Hours Once the band has heard the first mix they will usually want a few things changed. Once the mix is perfect a new final stereo mix will be printed. Day 5 - Mastering - 2-4 Hours Once the track has been mixed perfectly I will send it to one of two mastering engineer that I know and work with: Alfonso Susae, a professional mastering engineer with 20 years of experience or Rick O‘Neil from Turtlerock in Sydney (He has worked for Kylie, Dire Straits, John Butler Trio & Jimmy Barnes) who will cost $800 more.
