Still looking ... Boston Band wants Oboe Player Early Musicians Wanted! Wanted, EARLY REEDS! Bagpipers, Tromba Marina, Shawm, Rauschpfeife, and other loud early winds!
A few years ago, I formed a medieval band which has evolved into a Comedy music routine that plays authentic medieval and renaissance music on authentic instruments. We cannot get together for every gig, so the solution is to form a sister band made up of different players to play the gigs that we'd like to do, but which we can't all schedule together, because of other commitments.
The new band will be similar, but have a completely different nature and style.
We will still play 100% authentic medieval music.
We will not have musical comedy -- just jokes between songs. Songs are done seriously, but with gusto.
The difference is that this band will consist of 3 early wind players and one drummer. We want the ensemble to have all loud reed instrument or loud early winds that can play with reeds. No stringed instrument, no recorders. The music we play will be standard early medieval dance and festival tunes, and you should be able to learn to play them from memory.
If you have Highland bagpipes, and would like to learn to play medieval bagpipes, we are definitely interested. I don't expect there to be many medieval bagpipers around, which is why I'd like to get as many other reeds as possible -- Oboes, Rauschpfeifes, shawms.
The idea is to play mainly at renaissance faires, and expand to other venues, such as the Early Music Festival, and maybe even clubs.City: Boston MA Genre: Experimental |
