![]() Still looking ... Glasgow Band wants Bass Player Buckcherry / AC/DC type bass player needed BASS player needed for Glasgow Band There's gotta be the right guy out there. We need a bass player, and have auditioned 3 so far.. Rather than type this all out each time I see a decent ad, I’m sending out this generic blurb ... if it looks interesting to you, please get in touch.. The Deadly Romantics were founded in the Summer of 2006 in Hamilton, Ontario (a fairly large City, just outside of Toronto... yes... in Canada). In Canada, the band was called Thunderfuck and the Deadly Romantics (just in case you get confused once you have looked at the various websites..) The band was founded by Bruce Hotchkies, who had found some success in Canada as the drummer for “Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies” rip offs “Britney’s Krack” (www.britneyskrack.com). If you are at all interested, if you do a Google Search for Britney’s Krack, you should find things such as their video for Ricky Martins “Living La Vida Loca”. Anyway, despite the growing success of Britney’s Krack (including two nominations at the Hamilton Music Awards and opening slots for artists such as A Flock Of Seagulls and The Bay City Rollers) Bruce grew tired of performing other peoples songs and decided he wanted to sing anyway... The Canadian band featured several (locally) well known musicians and very quickly gained a cult following. Points of Interest: 1. Opened up for Tyla (The Dogs D’Amour) on his Canadian Tour in 2007 2. 1st Place – View Magazine Readers Poll – Best Band Merchandise 3. 2nd Place - View Magazine Readers Poll – Best Band Name 4. 3rd Place - View Magazine Readers Poll – Best Gig Posters 5. Reviews received in USA, Canada, UK and New Zealand 6. Kicked off of Hamilton’s Festival of Friends as public complained about band name hence... 7. Sued Mayor of Hamilton in July 2007 8. Unreleased demo’s somehow managed to make it to judging panel and received nomination for Best Hard Rock Record 2007 at the Hamilton Music Awards. 9. Released a cover of the Dogs D’Amour “Saviour” on a charity Tribute CD In October 2007, Bruce relocated to Scotland. So, what has happened since...... Gary Mark is the new guitarist in The Deadly Romantics (notice no Thunderfuck anymore) and we have just recruited a new Bass player... now we need the drums!! We have recently signed a limited deal with Versailles Records out of Nashville, and have recorded a track for an upcoming compilation CD. Our Band influences (not necessarily personal influences) are as such.... 1. Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction (the most common band we are referred to as sounding like) 2. AC/ DC – the band we think we sound like. 3. The Cult (Electric album era) 4. The Quireboys 5. The Dogs D’Amour 6. The Faces 7. The Wildhearts 8. Iron Maiden (a little bit, although not really) Check out our website at www.deadlyromantics.com (although this has not been updated, and will not be updated until a band is in place) and you can check out song files at www.myspace.com/ deadlyromantics If you would like to set up an audition, please e-mail me at deadlyromantics@gmail.com The qualities we’re looking for are as such.... We are in our late 30’s early 40’s – and have no desire to be rockstars. (Although you can be any age....!) We take the band VERY seriously, as it is a very serious HOBBY for us. So, if you think you’re a rock star and want that record deal, maybe this isn’t the band for you. Image is VERY important (as lame as it sounds) we’re going for the biker image (look at the websites) – so if you don’t suit the part, don’t bother getting in touch We intend to gig once every six weeks or so, but not in shit venues. Where we play may be in Glasgow or Edinburgh, but may also be in Manchester, London or Bristol (basically they could be anywhere). We want high-ish profile gigs, but as usual with original acts, may not be well paid (if at all). If you are looking for a second income, this may also not be the band for you. Sorry for putting all these restrictions on the gig, but basically, after you look at the website, you will either want nothing to do with the band, or will be desperate to be in it.
