![]() Jun 2, 08 Houston Bass Player wants Band 18-year old workhorse bassist seeks a band that works and plays hard I'm Alex. I'm 18 and just graduated from High School. I'll be attending college in Houston, starting with some classes in July. However, music is a big deal to me, and I am more than willing to practice multiple times a week. I\'m ready to jam now. I\'ve taken three years of classical music theory, and I know how to play actual notes and in a key. I do not view the bass as a flashy instrument, and am uncomfortable playing show-boat type lines. I do, however, fill in the chord progressions with passing tones, neighbor tones, fifths, octaves, and slides so as to strengthen the sound of the overall song. If you want an aggressive, in-your-face sound, I may not be what you\'re looking for. But if you want a supportive, rock-solid, workhorse, I\'m your man. I know how to party and have a good time, but I do not want to join a pot-band that doesn\'t work. I love music, and it would be my dream to do it for the rest of my life. I have played roughly a dozen gigs in my time. I have played a number of types of music, but my heart is in alternative rock. I really dig punk as well, and have even meddled in some jazz/ rock fusion. I\'m willing to play metal, but my interest in it is pretty mild, unless it\'s some good sh*t. Straight up rock, alternative, and punk are my stronger suits. My favorite bass player is Matt Freeman from Rancid (a bit too showy for me, no matter how incredible he is). And my favorite artists are: Radiohead, Rancid, Finch, Sublime, Operation Ivy, The Replacements, Elliot Smith, Breaking Benjamin (though they are really predictable), Linkin Park (for their new stuff), and a few others that aren\'t as influential. Drop me a line if you wanna jam. alex bassofthesound@gmail.com City: Houston TX Genre: Alternative |
