Still looking ... Atlanta Lead Guitars wants Band ATLANTA-Seasoned, Versatile Lead Singer/Lead Guitarist Available! David "Cotton" Payton Music Facts... I have played guitar and sang since I was 5 years old. My first band played on David Letterman's (local Indianapolis) TV show when I was 13. I went on the road full time (singing) with my first band when I was 17. I have spent 22 years since then on the road full-time singing and playing lead guitar with mostly Christian rock bands. In 1985 a band I was lead guitarist for (Mylon LeFevre & Broken Heart) was nominated for a grammy. The next year they won. In that time, I have literally played in front of millions. For example, I did a 5-minute guitar solo at the 1985 Creation Festival in front of 63, 000 people, while the rest of the band was changing clothes. I released a solo CD on Refuge Records back in 1991. It was released nationally. 2 original songs were also featured on Heavenly Blues, another CD that was released nationally. Most recently I was the only guitarist and "white" male vocalist with one of the top 5 party bands in the country: U.S. Beat. I left them to pursue my own musical interests, which I am doing now. I can play all guitars, drums, bass, sing lead and harmonies. I also play some keys, mandolin, & banjo. I know stage presence, rhythm section and vocal arrangement. I have learned a lot in all those years, and believe I could be a strong musical asset in any band. I own my own stucco company now, so I have the flexibility I need to do whatever I need to do. MORE... I am a seasoned pro. I have 2 top regional booking agencies ready to get gigs when we are ready. I have toured as lead guitarist for Grammy-winning bands, and have spent the last few years on the high-end "corporate / party / wedding" circuit. I want to play on a high energy, entertaining "show" band that does a huge variety of styles, medleys, song parodies, etc. for corporate events, festivals, fairs, high-end weddings, classy clubs, etc. Rock (classic & modern), Blues, Adult alternative etc. is my forte', but I'll play what "they" want to hear, because that's where the work is! I am well versed in the "low hanging fruit" music that you have to do in corporate and wedding situations, but I also do more eclectic, "interesting" covers and originals as well when applicable. I have HUNDREDS of songs in my repertoire! I have pro attitude, pro gear and stage presence. I am dependable and enthusiastic (for the right project).
